Where to stay

Captain John is no longer in Flamingo, call or e-mail me for any questions to see the birds.

Greater Flamingo and shorebird tour.

If you want to go and look for Greater Flamingos and you don’t want to walk the dreaded Snake Bight Trail (and its million + mosquitos), charter Captain John Griffiths’ boat.  This is the only sane way to see the Flamingos in comfort.

If you plan your trip at low tide, you will be rewarded with thousands of shorebirds, terns, gulls as well as waders.  Captain John knows his way around Florida Bay extremely well.  He can show you many good areas to bird.  The best months to see the Greater Flamingos are October through February.  The birds are sometimes seen at other times including some of the summer months.

So get up to three of your best birding friends together to have fun looking for the Greater Flamingos!  Be sure to bring your scope as this is very helpful in locating the Greater Flamingos.  If you hire me for a day of guiding, I can help find them while on Captain John’s boat.  Either way you will have fun birding.

Be sure to tell Captain John that Larry Manfredi recommended him!

Captain John is located in Flamingo in Everglades National Park Florida USA.
